Odin wields his spear, Gungnir, in his right hand as his ravens, Hugin and Munin, are perched on the arms of his throne. At his feet and behind his throne, his wolves Geri and Freki are waiting nearby. The inscriptions on this face of the silver round include Odin and The All-Father.

Reverse

A ride from the Valkyrie is shown riding through the skies on the reverse of the 1 oz Silver Norse God Series Odin Rounds. The Valkyrie were warrior maidens chosen by Odin to ride in the skies over the battles of men. The Valkyrie wore winged helmets and stormed through the skies on their powerful steeds, working with Odin to choose who lives and who dies. Inscriptions on this side include Valkyrie, Chooser of the Slain, and 1 Ounce .999 Fine Silver.

History

Odin rules over Asgard, the land of the gods, and is the eldest god in Norse mythology. He relies upon his ravens, Hugin and Munin, to be his eyes and ears around the world as the pair fly all over the world and bring reports back to Odin. The ravens assist him, in part, because Odin sacrificed his right eye in Mimirs Well of Wisdom in his quest for ultimate wisdom.
