The SS Tilawa was a passenger ship that met a tragic end in 1942 during World War II, earning the nickname Indian Titanic. While on a voyage from Bombay to Durban, the ship was torpedoed by Japanese submarines and sank into the Indian Ocean, taking 2,364 silver bars with it. In 2017, a secretive mission recovered around 60 tons of the lost silver. Now, you can own a piece of this history with 1 oz Silver S.S. Tilawa Rounds from Provident Metals.

Obverse
The obverse of the Silver S.S. Tilawa Rounds depicts the ship mid-voyage, along with a map that tracks its final course from India to South Africa. Inscriptions include BOMBAY TO DURBAN and 1 OZ .999 FINE SILVER.
Reverse
On the reverse of 1 oz Silver S.S. Tilawa Rounds, the SS Tilawa is shown sailing on calm waters. This design captures the ships last journey as it headed toward Durban, South Africa, with silver that was intended to be minted into coins by the South African Mint. The inscriptions here include SS TILAWA.
History
The SS Tilawa Shipwreck Silver Series provides a one-of-a-kind chance for collectors to hold a piece of maritime history. The SS Tilawa was sunk on November 23, 1942, after being struck by Japanese torpedoes. The ship and its cargo of 60 tons of silver were lost for decades before being rediscovered in 2014 and salvaged in 2017.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.
Most Provident orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
