There is no national festival that is celebrated in more places around the world than St. Patricks Day. Celebrated every year on March 17th, the date of death for St. Patrick, St. Patricks Day is a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada, and the British Overseas Territory of Montserrat in the Caribbean. Thanks to the Irish diaspora over centuries gone by, St. Patricks Day has become a massive day of celebration in the United Kingdom, Canada, United States, Australia, and New Zealand as well. Provident Metals happily offers you the 1 oz Silver St. Patricks Day Round for purchase online today.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with an individual protective plastic flip or an acrylic tube of 20 silver rounds!
  • Impressive Irish design themes!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.

  • The island of Ireland is depicted in the reverse design.
  • Proof-like rounds.

When you purchase a 1 oz Silver St. Patricks Day Round from Provident Metals, you receive an item that boasts proof-like visuals. This indicates the presence of frosted designs and clear fields. The rounds are packaged individually inside of plastic flips or by multiples of 20 inside of acrylic tubes.

Obverse

The image of St. Patrick is imposed within the clover on the obverse of the 1 oz Silver St. Patricks Day Round. St. Patrick came from a Romano-Britain family and was born in Roman Britain in the late 4th century CE. His father and grandfather were both active in the Christian church in Roman Britain, his father being a deacon and his grandfather a priest. He is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland and was said to have used the three-leaf clover to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Gaelic people. In this design, St. Patrick is imposed within the clover as the Harp of Ireland is present and the Old Irish term for the island, Eire, is inscribed in the lower right.

Reverse

For the reverse design of the 1 oz Silver St. Patricks Day Round, you will find a map of the island of Ireland. The second-largest island in the British Isles and the third-largest island in all of Europe, Ireland was historically split into four provinces. Those four provinces are represented here by a coat of arms over the region that each province encompasses. The names of the provinces are inscribed as Leinster, Munster, Connaught, and Ulster. Other markings include 1 oz and .999 fine Silver.

History

Much of St. Patricks background comes from his own writings in Declaration. He recorded being kidnapped at the age of 16 by Irish raiders and taken across the Irish Sea to Ireland as a slave. He reported spending six years there working as a shepherd before finding God and making his escape back to Britain. He returned later in life, after having become a priest, to spread Christianity to Ireland.
