History

After leaving behind his royal life, including his wife and young son, Buddha spent six years practicing severe self-discipline in search of enlightenment. He eventually discovered the “Middle Way,” a balanced path between extreme hardship and indulgence. Under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, he achieved enlightenment and dedicated the next 45 years of his life to teaching the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path to help others overcome suffering.
