In the new Great Engravers Collection, the Royal Mint of England celebrates some of the greatest works of art from the artists who have designed coins, bars, and other bullion pieces for the mint throughout its history. One of its greatest designers from the recent past, William Wyon, is the focus of the first releases of The Great Engravers Collection. Right now, you can buy 1 oz Silver Great Britain The Great Engravers Collection Una and the Lion Bars online at Provident Metals.
Provident Metals is happy to offer the 1 oz Silver Great Britain The Great Engravers Collection Una and the Lion Bars to you for purchase new from the Royal Mint. Each bar has a smooth edge with a beautiful, swirling background pattern on both sides of the silver bars. You will receive your 1 oz silver bars inside of protective plastic sleeves.
On the obverse side of 1 oz Silver Great Britain Una and the Lion Bars, you will find Jody Clarks reimagined Una and the Lion design. First created in the 19th century by William Wyon, Clarks modern take on the design depicts a young, powerful Queen Victoria in left-profile relief as she holds the monarchs scepter in her right hand and the monarchs globe orb in her left hand. Seated at her side is a powerful lion, a protector and faithful companion.
The reverse face of the 1 oz Silver Great Britain The Great Engravers Collection Bars features the Royal Mint seal. The official seal of the Royal Mint includes the crowned shield from the Royal Arms, with its quartered field bearing the coat of arms for England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Inscriptions that accompany this design include The Royal Mint and 1 oz 999.9 Fine Silver.
William Wyon served as the official Chief Engraver of the Royal Mint of England from 1828 until his death in October 1851. Wyon not only had his only successful coin designs featuring Queen Victoria for the Royal Mint during the 19th century, but his son Leonard Charles Wyon also served as an engraver at the Royal Mint who designed the Queen Victoria effigy for the gold and silver coins of her Golden Jubilee.
