Issued during the 1980s, the Trade Unit Series introduced silver rounds with a unique hexagon shape. These rounds feature designs inspired by key American symbols, including the Liberty Bell, the bald eagle, and balance scales. Right now, 1 oz Silver Trade Unit Hexagon Rounds are available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 1 oz Silver Trade Unit Hexagon Round comes from a private mint and is housed in a protective plastic flip. These rounds bear the phrase THE INTERNATIONAL SILVER TRADE UNIT, which distinguishes them from government-issued coins. Their hexagon shape adds a unique element to the design, making them stand out among other silver rounds.
Obverse
The obverse of these Silver Trade Unit Hexagon Rounds features a depiction of the Liberty Bell and an American bald eagle. In this design, the bald eagle is seen mid-flight, wings outstretched, and talons extended as it descends in front of the Liberty Bell. Inscriptions include AMERICA, AMERICA, ONE OUNCE, and .999 FINE SILVER.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 1 oz Silver Trade Unit Hexagon Round, youll find balance scales. These scales represent the concept of trade and fairness, with coins on one side and weight measurements on the other. Olive branches surround the scales, and the identifying hallmarks of the round are noted above the design. Inscriptions read THE INTERNATIONAL SILVER TRADE UNIT, 31.1 GRAMS, and ONE TROY OUNCE .999 FINE.
History
The Liberty Bell is one of the standout designs on the Trade Unit Series rounds. Originally cast in 1751, this historic bell became a widely recognized symbol of American independence, even though it wasnt rung to announce independence in 1776. The bell gained its famous crack in 1846 while tolling for George Washington’s birthday. Inscribed with the words Proclaim Liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof, the Liberty Bell has become an enduring symbol of freedom and civil rights.
