Obverse

On the reverse side each bar, you will see the doghouse from the obverse of the bar. However, in this scene, you will see a young puppy lying at the door to the doghouse. In the background of the design, you will see the larger dog from behind. It looks like the older dog is sitting behind the doghouse.

History

The Year of the Dog is 11^th out of 12 animals included in the Chinese Zodiac. The animals earned their spot in the order based on the results of a race based on Chinese lore. The Jade Emperor was searching for different animals to serve as his guardians and asked the 12 animals included in the Lunar Calendar to a meeting. The dog was the eleventh to arrive at the meeting.
