Obverse
The obverse of the 10 oz Silver 2019 Germania The Allegories Britannia & Germania Round features the inscriptions ALLEGORIES and 10 OZ 999.9 FINE SILVER around the top and side borders. They surround the figures of Germania and Britannia, who are depicted as warrior-like figures. Germania reaches out to Britannia with one hand while using the other to brace a shield at her feet. She’s wearing a scabbard with a sword sheathed in it, and her hair appears to be blown by a breeze. Next to her, Britannia is wearing a Roman helmet and holding a trident. She braces a shield with one knee.

Reverse
Inscriptions on the reverse read GERMANIA, 50 MARK and 2019. The 50 Mark denomination inscribed on the round is ceremonial only and not legal tender. A fictional coat of arms for the historic land of Germania is also included. It’s full of symbols, including a wild boar for might, a checkered pattern for wisdom and three flowers for unity, freedom and integrity. The shield is crowned, which is a symbol of authority, and it’s surrounded by an oak leaf wreath, which is a symbol of great power.

Packaging
This gorgeous round ships in a plastic capsule for protection. You can use the capsule for convenient storage and as a way to display the round. The round comes with a Certificate of Authentication.

History
Historically, nations and lands have been personified as female giving rise to the term “the motherland.” This was true even during periods when females were considered to be weak or unable to lead, and it’s thought that a female personification aligns with the idea of country as a home, family and caring location.
