These 2022 South Korean 10 oz Taekwondo Medals will be delivered in protective plastic capsules. The medals were struck in .999 pure silver by KOMSCO, which is considered the central mint of South Korea. Each piece will arrive in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, which means few, if any, flaws will be visible on their surfaces.

Obverse

On the obverse of 2022 South Korean Silver Taekwondo Medals, there is a depiction of the Taegeuk. A prominent emblem in Korea, this design features the symbol of Yin and Yang in striking fashion. The obverse also features a series of stylized lines and inscriptions reading KOREA, 2022. A latent security device can be found as well that adjusts its imagery at different angles.

Reverse

The reverse side of 2022 South Korean 10 oz Silver Medal depicts a Taekwondo martial artist dressed in a traditional dobok. The fighter faces towards us as he strikes a classic combat pose. Additional features include a fist busting through a wall and inscriptions that read TAEKWONDO, 10 OZ FINE SILVER, .999.

History

Taekwondo is a popular martial art that combines a variety of artful punching and kicking moves. Joint locks, throws, and take-downs are also utilized in the sport, which rose to prominence following Japans occupation of the Korean peninsula. Taekwondo is practiced recreationally and professionally, and is also employed for military training. Currently, the martial art has full-medal status in the Olympic Games as well.
