Silver bullion bars and rounds that feature the Aztec Sun Stone design are widely recognized for their detailed appearance and historical connection. These products appeal to investors and collectors who appreciate silver with cultural meaning. The layered rings and symbolic features of the design are well-suited for silver, creating a piece that offers both visual detail and lasting value. Each bar reflects an important part of Mesoamerican history while giving buyers a link to the past. Today, 10 oz Silver Aztec Calendar Bars from SilverTowne are available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
All 10 oz Silver Aztec Calendar Bars come individually packaged in protective plastic. Orders of multiple bars are available in sealed sheets of 10 or in Master Boxes of 50 bars, which contain five sheets in total.
Design
The obverse of the Silver Aztec Calendar Bar presents a detailed version of the Sun Stone. This design includes several elements tied to Aztec beliefs and their understanding of the cosmos. At the center is Tonatiuh, the sun god, surrounded by four panels that represent earlier ages of the world that ended in destruction. Around this are rings featuring the 20 day signs of the Aztec calendar, along with solar rays, symbols of jade and turquoise representing value, and two Xiuhcoatl fire serpents forming the outer border. The reverse of the 10 oz Silver Aztec Calendar Bar shows a cropped section of the Aztec Calendar Stone design. The inscriptions on the obverse include TEN TROY OUNCES and 999 FINE SILVER.
History
The original Aztec Sun Stone is currently housed in the National Museum of Anthropology (Museo Nacional de Antropologa) in Mexico Citys Chapultepec Park. It stands as one of the museums most visited and important displays. Positioned in the Mexica Hall, the stone draws millions of visitors every year and is widely seen as a symbol of Mexicos rich history before European contact. It remains a key artifact for ongoing research and study.
