History

Argor-Heraeus was founded in 1951 in the Swiss city of Chiasso. The mint was originally known as Argor SA and operated as such through its 1973 acquisition by UBS. In 1986, a joint venture between UBS and the German Heraeus group created the mint as it is known today.
