History

The Texas State Capitol Building is located in Austin, the state capitol, and was built in the 1880s using hill country limestone to clad the exterior of the building. It is the third structure to fulfill the role of state capitol building in Texas and was completed in 1885 after the second capitol building burned down in the capitol fire of 1881.
