Humans tend to fear death; so much so that they have given death a name: the Grim Reaper. The Grim Reaper is a pseudo-human form that hunts people down when it is their time to die. The personification of death gives people the idea that death can be defeated if they can only outrun the Grim Reaper. The Grim Reaper is usually portrayed as male. He wears a black cloak with a hood. You can usually see his skull and boney fingers, however.

Obverse

On the obverse, you will see the image of a cross bearing the face of the Grim Reaper. In addition, there is text near the top of the bar that reads RIP. Other elements on this side of the bar include engravings of an hourglass running out of sand, a spider weaving a web, and the Reapers scythe.
