In 1854, the United States Mint introduced one of the rarest denominations of American currency. The $3 gold coin was available from 1854 to 1889, seeing its widest circulation during the 1850s following its introduction. Predominantly used on the West Coast, the $3 Indian Princess Gold Coin was also rare in that it saw only one change in its design over time. Right now, you can get 1855 $3 Indian Princess Gold Coins online from Provident Metals.

Lady Liberty is featured on the obverse side of 1855 Indian Princess Gold Coins. This design was created in 1854 by James B. Longacre and featured on the $3 gold coin from 1854 to 1889. The design features Liberty in left-profile relief with a feathered headdress on her head. The inscriptions on this side of the coin include only UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

A wreath is featured on the reverse field of the 1855 $3 Indian Princess Gold Coin. Also designed by Longacre, this image depicts a wreath made from wheat, corn, tobacco, and cotton. This field of the coin features inscriptions of 3 DOLLARS and 1855.

The designs of the $3 Indian Princess Gold Coin were never changed during the course of its production. However, after the first release in 1854, the word DOLLARS was enhanced in size.
