The design field includes 13 stars with inscriptions of E PLURIBUS UNUM, LIBERTY on the coronet, and the date mark of 1878.

Reverse

On the reverse face of 1878-CC Morgan Dollar Silver Coins, you will find the image of the heraldic eagle of the United States. One of the few designs to lack the US national shield, the image does still set the eagle in front-facing relief with spread wings as it clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. History

Opened in 1870, the Carson City Mint was one of three mints to issue Morgan Dollars during the 1878 debut year. Carson City would go on to strike coins annually through 1885. The mint suspended all operations from 1886 to 1888, resuming production in 1889 and striking coins until its closure in 1893.
