They feature strong shine and only minor, small marks. The San Francisco Mint struck 8,900,000 Morgan Dollars in 1880, making it the second-highest mintage after the Philadelphia Mint that year.
Obverse
The obverse of the 1880-S Morgan Dollar Coin shows Liberty facing left. She wears a laurel wreath and a coronet with the word LIBERTY, surrounded by 13 stars, which represent the original American states. The inscriptions read E PLURIBUS UNUM, LIBERTY, and 1880.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 1880-S Morgan Dollar Silver Coin, you will find a bald eagle with wings fully open. The eagle holds arrows and an olive branch, a traditional symbol of the balance between force and peace. Morgans heraldic eagle remains a lasting image from U.S. Mint history. The inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, ONE DOLLAR, and the S mint mark.

Morgans Liberty design not only became an iconic part of the silver dollar but also left a long-term mark on American coinage. When the Morgan Dollar returned for a short time in 1921, the same Liberty portrait was brought back, showing its strong impact on collectors.
