Morgan Dollar Silver Coins were issued by five branches of the US Mint, including Philadelphia, San Francisco, Carson City, New Orleans, and Denver. The Philadelphia and San Francisco Mints issued the coins every year throughout the program. New Orleans struck the coins in all but two years, 1878 and 1921. Denver struck the coins just once in 1921. Carson City issued the coins from 1878 to 1885 and 1889 to 1893.

The 1883 Morgan Dollar Silver Coin from the Carson City Mint had a low mintage of 1.204 million coins. While this figure might seem high, it is minuscule compared to the other three mints issuing coins that year. Philadelphia struck 12.290 million coins in 1883, New Orleans struck 8.725 million coins, and San Francisco issued 6.250 million coins.
