The 1884 release of Morgan Dollar Silver Coins marked the penultimate issue of the coins annually by Carson City. The Carson City Mint had issued Morgans since 1878 and would do so annually until 1885, with a three-year break before resuming production for four more years from 1889 to 1893. Right now, you can get certified 1884-CC Morgan Dollar Silver Coins online at Provident Metals.

With your purchase of the 1884-CC Morgan Dollar Silver Coin in this listing, you will receive a coin in Mint State 64 condition. Coins with this grade exhibit average mint luster with several small contact marks grouped together, one or two heavier marks present, one or two patches of hairlines, and some noticeable, light scuff marks.

On the obverse of 1884-CC Morgan Dollars, you will find Lady Liberty. This design from George T. Morgan captures Libertys figure in left-profile relief wearing the laurel wreath and a coronet crown. Inscriptions read E PLURIBUS UNUM, LIBERTY on the crown, and 1884.

The reverse side of the 1884-CC Morgan Dollar Silver Coin comes with a vision of the heraldic eagle. This version of the heraldic eagle has no US national shield but does feature the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons.

Nearly three million Morgan Dollars were discovered in bags in US Treasury vaults in the 1960s. The General Services Administration (GSA) would later auction these coins off to the public. Among those coins, the 1884 date mark is one of the better represented as nearly 84% of its original mintage was still in Treasury vaults in the 1960s.
