The release of Morgan Dollar Silver Coins at the United States Mint took place from 1878 to 1904, as well as 1921. During this period of time, the Carson City Mint issued the coins from 1878 to 1885 and again from 1889 to 1893. Carson City Mint date marks are some of the lowest in the history of the series, but also easy to come by in some cases due to the GSA Hoard discovered in the 1960s. Right now, you can buy certified 1884-CC Morgan Dollar Silver Coins online at Provident Metals.

With your purchase of 1884-CC Morgan Dollar Silver Coins online at Provident Metals, you will receive a specimen that is graded Mint State 66. Housed in a protective slab, these coins exhibit above-average mint luster with the possibility of small, scattered contact marks and a few, light hairlines. The contact marks may be present within the primary field and the hairlines are only visible with the aid of magnification.

Obverse

The obverse side of 1884-CC Morgan Dollar Silver Coins is a depiction of Liberty. This left-profile relief shows Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, coronet crown, and a laurel wreath. The field features 13 stars, an inscription of E PLURIBUS UNUM overhead, the word LIBERTY on the coronet crown, and the date mark of 1884 below the bust.

Reverse

On the reverse face of the 1884-CC Morgan Dollar is an image of the American bald eagle. This front-facing relief of the bald eagle shows the national symbol as it clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. The inscriptions on this field of the coin read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and ONE DOLLAR. The CC mint mark features on this face of the coin beneath the wreath that frames the eagle.

History

The 1884-CC Morgan Dollar is one of the most unique among the GSA Hoard of coins discovered in the 1960s. In 1884, the Carson City Mint struck 1.316 million coins in total. However, more than 84% of that mintage wound up spending nearly a century sitting in Treasury vaults. 926,368 of the 1884-CC Morgan Dollars were found in the Treasury vaults in the 1960s.
