However, in 1879, the Carson City Mint struck a significantly lower number of these coins compared to the previous year, with a total mintage of only 756,000 coins.

Design

The obverse side of the coin presents an exquisite portrayal of Lady Liberty, accompanied by the inscriptions “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “1879.” Surrounding the design are thirteen ornate stars. On the reverse side, you’ll discover a striking heraldic eagle clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch. Additionally, the coin features the “CC” mint mark, along with the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
