The Morgan Silver Dollar stands as one of Americas most recognized silver coin designs. First minted in 1878 and crafted by George T. Morgan, this design was in use through 1904, with a final issue in 1921. Right now, certified 1888 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins are available from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each of these 1888 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins is certified in Mint State 64 condition. Coins in this grade have a nice luster and a visually appealing look. Some light, scattered marks may appear on the coins surface, along with the potential for minor hairlines in select areas.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 1888 Morgan Dollar, youll see Lady Liberty in a left-profile portrait. She wears a Phrygian cap symbolizing freedom, along with a coronet and laurel wreath. Thirteen stars surround her to honor the original Colonies, with the date of issue, 1888, inscribed at the bottom. Inscriptions include E PLURIBUS UNUM and 1888.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 1888 Morgan Dollar Silver Coin features a heraldic eagle design. This American bald eagle holds arrows and an olive branch in its talons, a symbol of the nations strength and commitment to peace. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and ONE DOLLAR.
