Obverse

The obverse of the 1894 Liberty Eagle Gold Coin displays a left-facing profile of Liberty, designed by Christian Gobrecht in 1838. She wears a coronet inscribed with “Liberty,” and the date is located below her portrait. The inscription reads LIBERTY and 1894.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 1894 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle, youll see the US heraldic eagle. The bald eagle holds the arrows of war and an olive branch of peace, with the national motto displayed above. This reverse design has been featured on US coinage since 1866. Inscriptions on this side read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and TEN D.

History

During the 1890s, the $10 Liberty Gold Eagle was produced at various US Mints. In 1894, the Philadelphia Mint struck over 2.4 million of these coins, following the closure of the Carson City Mint a year earlier.
