The US Eagle denomination was first introduced at the United States Mint in 1794. At the time, the available denominations included the Eagle ($10), Half Eagle ($5), and Quarter Eagle ($2.50). The Double Eagle ($20) was introduced in 1850, featuring the famous Liberty Head design created by James B. Longacre, who was the 4th US Mint Chief Engraver. Right now, 1895-S Pre-33 $20 Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coins are available from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
These 1895-S Pre-33 $20 Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coins are offered in About Uncirculated condition. AU coins typically show light wear with minimal friction visible on high points, while still maintaining a considerable amount of mint luster.

Longacre, the portrait of Liberty shows her wearing a coronet crown, surrounded by 13 stars and with the date located beneath her image. Inscriptions include LIBERTY and 1895.
Reverse
On the reverse of 1895-S Pre-33 Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coins, youll find Longacres heraldic eagle design. The inscriptions here include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, TWENTY DOLLARS, and the S mint mark.
History
The 1895 release of the $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagles was struck at only two US Mint branch mints: the Philadelphia Mint and the San Francisco Mint. The total mintage at the San Francisco Mint was 1,143,500 coins, making these highly collectible.
