All 1896 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins will be securely packaged in PCGS protective plastic slabs, guaranteeing their authenticity, and preserving their MS63 condition. The coins in this product listing have been graded as MS63 by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). Coins in this condition exhibit a slightly impaired yet captivating mint luster. The coins will have only a few detracting flaws present in the prime focal areas, with a few scattered hairlines and either several minor contact marks or a handful of heavier contact marks present on the surface of the coins.
Obverse
On the obverse side of these magnificent coins, you’ll discover an effigy of Lady Liberty. She is portrayed in left profile, wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with a coronet crown and a laurel wreath. The design also showcases 13 stars, denoting the original colonies. Inscriptions include E PLURIBUS UNUM, and 1896.
Reverse
The reverse side showcases a 19th-century rendition of the heraldic eagle of the United States. This majestic image features a bald eagle facing forward, with its wings outstretched and its gaze fixed to the right. Clutching arrows and an olive branch in its talons, the eagle symbolizes both strength and peace. Inscriptions read ONE DOLLAR, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and IN GOD WE TRUST.
History
George T. Morgan created the designs of the obverse and reverse of these coins. At the Philadelphia Mint in particular, over 300 million Morgan Dollar Silver Coins have been struck, by far more than any of the other four mints.
