The Morgan Silver Dollar, a timeless piece of American numismatic history, holds immense appeal among collectors and investors alike. Please note that all coins from this date range bear a mint mark, except for those from Philadelphia. At Provident Metals, we are thrilled to present you with the opportunity to acquire 1896 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins.

Obverse

On the obverse side of these magnificent coins, you’ll discover an effigy of Lady Liberty. She is portrayed in left profile, wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with a coronet crown and a laurel wreath. The design also showcases 13 stars, denoting the original colonies. Inscriptions include E PLURIBUS UNUM, and 1896.

Reverse

The reverse side showcases a 19th-century rendition of the heraldic eagle of the United States. This majestic image features a bald eagle facing forward, with its wings outstretched and its gaze fixed to the right. Clutching arrows and an olive branch in its talons, the eagle symbolizes both strength and peace. Inscriptions read ONE DOLLAR, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and IN GOD WE TRUST.

History

George T. Morgan created the designs of the obverse and reverse of these coins. At the Philadelphia Mint in particular, over 300 million Morgan Dollar Silver Coins have been struck, by far more than any of the other four mints.
