Today, certified 1899-O Morgan Dollar Silver Coins are available from Provident Metals.

  • Coins arrive inside PCGS plastic slabs!
  • 22nd year for the Morgan Silver Dollar!
  • Total mintage of 12,290,000 coins at the New Orleans Mint!

  • Bears a Grade of Mint State 65 from the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • Lady Liberty on the obverse.
  • Heraldic eagle on the reverse.
  • Comes with an O mint mark from the New Orleans Mint.

These 1899-O Morgan Dollar Silver Coins are graded Mint State 65 by the PCGS, meaning they have a few light contact marks and an appealing overall look with above-average luster.

Obverse

The obverse of the 1899-O Morgan Dollar Coin features Lady Liberty in left-profile. Designed by George T. Morgan, Liberty is adorned with a Phrygian cap, a coronet crown, and a laurel wreath. Surrounding her are 13 stars, symbolizing the original American colonies.

Reverse

On the reverse side of 1899-O Morgan Dollar Silver Coins, youll find the heraldic eagle designed by George T. Morgan. This eagle is depicted with wings spread wide, clutching arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, signifying war and peace. The eagle design is unique because it doesnt include the traditional US shield.

History

In 1899, the New Orleans Mint led the way in Morgan Silver Dollar production, minting over 12 million coins, which was more than the combined output of the Philadelphia and San Francisco Mints. Compared to the volume at the New Orleans Mint, San Francisco struck the next highest volume at 2.562 million coins and Philadelphia issued just 330,000 coins.
