The Morgan Silver Dollar has been a beloved part of American coin history for more than 150 years. First minted by the United States Mint between 1878 and 1904, and again in 1921, the Morgan Silver Dollar is cherished for its classic depiction of Liberty and its strong appeal among silver dollar collectors. Right now, 1900 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins are available from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Arrives inside a protective flip!
  • 23rd release in the Morgan Dollar Series!
  • Final mintage of 8,830,000 coins at Philadelphia!
  • Contains .7734 Troy oz of actual silver content in BU condition.
  • Bears a face value of $1 (USD) backed by the federal government.
  • The obverse features a bust of Liberty.
  • On the reverse is the heraldic eagle.

Each 1900 Morgan Dollar Silver Coin available here is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and comes individually packaged inside a protective plastic flip. Bulk purchases of 20 coins may come in tubes. The Philadelphia Mint struck nearly 9 million Morgan Dollars in 1900, with fewer than 1,000 proof coins being issued.

Obverse

The obverse of the 1900 Morgan Dollar Coin features a design by George T. Morgan, showcasing a left-facing bust of Liberty. Her head is crowned with a Phrygian cap, laurel wreath, and a coronet inscribed with Liberty. Inscriptions read E PLURIBUS UNUM, LIBERTY, and 1900.

Reverse

On the reverse side of 1900 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins, the design again comes from George T. Morgan. This heraldic eagle design is unique in that it does not include the US national shield. The eagle holds arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing the balance between war and peace. The inscriptions here read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and ONE DOLLAR.

History

Across all three mints in operation at the time, nearly 25 million Morgan Dollars were produced in 1900. The New Orleans Mint struck the highest quantity, followed by Philadelphia with 8.83 million coins and San Francisco with 3.54 million coins.
