Known for its classic visual design and substantial silver content, the Morgan Silver Dollar is one of the most prized American coins on the collectors’ market. Closely identified with the golden age of the American frontier, these silver dollars are often sought-after for their rarity, especially in terms of coins from the long-lost branch mint at New Orleans with an uncirculated grade of Mint State 60 or better on the Sheldon scale. The globally-recognized third-party grading service PCGS certifies a grade of Mint State 64 for a particularly rare Morgan dollar carrying the “O” mint mark, which has a survival estimate of just over 22,100 coins. Provident Metals offers the 1900-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coin for online purchase.

  • Delivered in a tamper-proof plastic slab with a label that confirms its certified PCGS grade of MS/64!
  • Struck at the New Orleans Mint in 1900!
  • Limited supplies are drawn from a survival estimate of just over 22,100 coins!
  • Contains 0.7734 Troy oz of Silver and is comprised of 90% silver and 10% copper.
  • Single-dollar face value backed by the United States government.
  • Obverse field features an effigy of Lady Liberty.
  • Reverse field features a heraldic eagle.

The 1900-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coin has a PCGS-certified grade of Mint State 64. This indicates an average strike and luster with scattered contact marks and hairline scratches, some of which might appear in prime focal areas, and an attractive overall eye appeal. It ships fully insured by Provident Metals in a secure plastic slab with a label that confirms its grade.

An effigy of Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap dominates the obverse field, along with the lettering “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “1900.” Thirteen decorative stars appear at the rim.

The reverse field features a heraldic eagle clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. This is accompanied by the “O” mint mark and the lettering “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”

The branch mint at New Orleans struck Morgan Silver Dollars between 1879 and 1904. Over the many years since, many of these coins were lost to circulation wear or simply melted down for their precious silver, and they’re now some of the least-known Morgans among collectors, sometimes called the “forgotten” Morgan Silver Dollar. For those who know, however, their rarity makes them sought-after as both historic collectibles and investments, some of the most scarce surviving examples of the famous engraver George T. Morgan’s signature numismatic achievement.
