The 1901 $10 Bison Legal Tender Note is remembered as one of the most distinctive pieces of early 20th-century U.S. currency. With its bold image of an American bison at the center, this note stood apart from the traditional portrait designs of the time and quickly became known as the Bison Note among collectors. Each 1901 $10 Bison Legal Tender Note we offer comes sealed in a protective currency slab and certified at the Very Fine 30 level by the Professional Coin Grading Service. A note with this grade may have a few more folds than an Extremely Fine example but still shows strong color, paper quality, and detail.
Obverse
The obverse of the 1901 Bison Note features a powerful American bison with explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark on either side. The engravings feature intricate line work, decorative patterns, and classic scroll details that demonstrate the skill of the Bureau of Engraving and Printings artists.
Reverse
On the reverse of the note, youll see detailed geometric shapes, vivid denomination markings, and multicolor printing that highlight the advanced techniques of the era.
History
The Bison Note design belongs to the Legal Tender series first authorized during the Civil War era under the Legal Tender Acts. This version was introduced later as part of efforts to refresh the nations paper money, reflecting a new appreciation for American wildlife and scenery during Theodore Roosevelts presidency.

All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
Provident is only able to ship to addresses in any of the 50 US states. This includes P.O. boxes and APO addresses.
