The $10 Liberty Head Eagle is one of the most recognized US gold coins, designed by Christian Gobrecht in 1838. This design was used across various denominations, but the $10 Liberty Eagle had the longest production run, minted until 1907. Provident Metals now offers 1901-S $10 Liberty Eagle Gold Coins in certified condition.
Highlights:
Each 1901-S $10 Liberty Eagle Gold Coin is certified in Mint State 63 condition. Coins with this grade may have slight imperfections like light marks or hairlines but still retain good overall luster and detail.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 1901-S $10 Liberty Eagle Coin, youll see Christian Gobrechts portrait of Lady Liberty. Liberty is shown in left-profile wearing a coronet crown, surrounded by 13 stars. The date of minting appears at the bottom. The inscriptions read LIBERTY and 1901.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 1901-S Liberty Eagle Gold Coin includes Gobrechts image of the heraldic eagle. The eagle holds the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace, symbolizing Americas strength and desire for peace. The Type II version of the coin features the national motto on a banner above the eagle. Inscriptions here read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, TEN D., and the S mint mark.
History
In 1901, the San Francisco Mint produced over 2.8 million $10 Liberty Gold Eagles, making it the largest minting location for these coins that year. San Franciscos mintage was more than 1 million coins higher than Philadelphias output, marking a significant production boost.
