The Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coin was the largest denomination of American gold coinage ever issued for circulation. Though it was largely used in international commerce by American merchants and traders, it was nonetheless a popular gold coin with Americans. Right now, you can purchase 1907 Pre-33 $20 Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coins online from Provident Metals.

Obverse
For the obverse design of 1907 Pre-33 Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coins, the United States Mint featured James B. Longacres version of the Liberty Head designs. Modified based upon the 1838 design from Christian Gobrecht, the design shows Liberty in left-profile relief wearing a coronet crown with Liberty inscribed upon it. There is a ring of 13 stars around the bust with 1907 inscribed beneath the bust.
Reverse
In the reverse design of the 1907 Pre-33 $20 Double Eagle Gold Coins, Longacre created a modified version of the Great Seal of the United States. The front-facing bald eagle supports the US national shield as it clutches the olive branch of peace and the arrows of war in its talons. A ribbon stretches on either side of the national shield and reads E Pluribus Unum. The eagles outstretched wings are connected by rays of sunshine overhead with a circle of 13 stars above the eagle that include the words In God We Trust. Inscriptions include United States of America and Twenty Dollars.
History
The Liberty Double Eagles were issued by the United States Mint from 1850 to 1907 and struck by the Philadelphia Mint, New Orleans Mint, Carson City Mint, Denver Mint, and the San Francisco Mint. Only Philadelphia Mint coins were issued without mint marks. The New Orleans Mint last issued the coins in 1861 and the Carson City Mint in 1893. The Philadelphia Mint issued coins every year, with the San Francisco Mint the next most active branch in coining Double Eagles. The Denver Mint only issued the coins in 1906 and 1907.
