For collectors, certified coins offer an extra degree of appeal while also potentially raising their numismatic value. In this listing, Provident Metals is excited to offer a certified edition of the classic 1912 $5 gold piece from the Royal Canadian Mint. These historic coins were produced during the mints early years back when it was still affiliated with the British Royal Mint. Provident Metals currently has 1912 $5 Canadian Gold Coins in certified condition available to you for purchase online.
Coin Highlights:
When you order 1912 $5 Canadian Coins from Provident Metals, they will arrive in individual slabs from PCGS. These slabs are perfect for storage and display purposes. They also confirm that the coin was sent to the Professional Coin Grading Service for certification. Above the coin itself, you will find a label bearing the official grading details.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 1912 Canadian Gold Coins a bust of King George V is featured. Here, the crowned king faces left in a classic portrait from Sir Edgar Bertram Mackennal. King George was a British monarch who reigned from 1910-1936. In addition, the obverse field contains the Kings royal title of GEORGIVS V DEI GRA REX ET IND IMP.
Reverse
The reverse of $5 Canadian Gold Coins contains the coat of arms of Canada. For this release, the mint selected the arms used from 1868-1870. The design features a quartered shield surrounded by a beautiful display of maple leaves. The shield itself includes additional maple leaf imagery along with a lion and a ship. Inscriptions on the reverse read CANADA, 1912, FIVE DOLLARS.
History
When this coin was released in 1912, the Ottawa branch of the British Royal Mint was mainly producing sovereign coins. These $5 gold pieces were similar in composition, but with a slightly heavier weight. The mintage was low in 1912, with less than 166,000 produced overall. The design would remain in production until 1914.
