For those in search of historic gold coins from the 20th century, the Republic of Cuba has a distinctive series with denominations still available more than a century after the last coins were struck. The Republic of Cuba was formed in 1902 following independence from Spain at the end of the Spanish-American War. Heavily reliant on the United States at the time, Cubas gold coins of this era were designed and struck by the United States Mint. Provident Metals now offers 1915 10 Peso Cuba Gold Coins to you for purchase online with PCGS certification.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with a protective plastic slab courtesy from the PCGS!
  • 1st date for the Cuban Gold Pesos!
  • Limited number of certified gold coins!
  • Contains .4838 Troy oz of actual gold content.
  • Issued a face value of 10 Cuban Pesos.
  • Bears a Grade of Mint State 61 from the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • Obverse depicts Jose Marti.
  • Reverse features the Cuban coat of arms.

When you purchase these 1915 10 Peso Cuba Gold Coins online from Provident Metals, the coins you receive come in plastic slabs with a Mint State 61 grade. Coins in this condition showcase impaired mint luster, clusters of small or heavy contact marks, hairlines, and patches. Overall, the coins design elements are still clearly visible.

Obverse

For the obverse design of 1915 Cuba Gold Coins, a bust of Jose Marti appears on the specimens. This right-profile portrait is surrounded by inscriptions of PATRIA Y LIBERTAD, 1915, 8.718 G, and 90M. The first inscription is the Spanish-language national motto of Cuba that translates as Fatherland and Freedom.

Reverse

In the reverse design element on 1915 10 Peso Cuba Gold Coins, the US Mint features the coat of arms of the Republic of Cuba. This design includes a spade-shaped shield with a Phrygian cap at the top and a wreath made from oak and laurel around it. The field includes inscriptions of REPUBLICA DE CUBA and DIEZ PESOS.

History

The Cuban Gold Peso was available in 1915 and 1916 in denominations of 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, and 20 Pesos, with the 20 Pesos coin only struck in 1915. The coins all shared the same designs mentioned above. US Mint Chief Engraver Charles E. Barber designed the obverse and reverse fields of the coins, with the Philadelphia Mint branch facility striking the coins for Cuba.
