There is more than one way to invest in gold. In fact, there is more than one way to invest in gold coins. Bullion specimens from sovereign mints are popular among investors with proof options to attract collectors. However, the world used to be flush with circulating gold coins as well and you can still find these coins available for sale from dealers. Circulation gold coins offer beautiful designs and at least 90% gold content. Right now, you can get the 1915 100 Corona Austrian Gold Coin online from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with a protective plastic flip!
  • All coins have the 1915 date mark!
  • Contains .9802 Troy oz of actual gold content.
  • Bears a nominal face value of 100 fully backed by the Austrian government.
  • Emperor Franz Joseph I features on the obverse.
  • The Austrian Coat of Arms is on the reverse.
  • Coins available in About Uncirculated-plus condition.

Coins with the AU+ designation are considered About Uncirculated, with the plus addition indicating the specimens fall on the higher end of the broad range of About Uncirculated definitions. Most AU+ coins have extremely light to trace signs of friction on the highest points of the design elements. The coin may also have medium-to-full luster still.

Obverse

The obverse side of 1915 100 Corona Austrian Gold Coins includes the left-profile bust of Emperor Franz Joseph I. Initially the Emperor of Austria beginning in 1848, he became Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary when the Austro-Hungarian Empire was formed and held those titles until his death in 1916, making him Europes third-longest reigning monarch.

Reverse

On the reverse face of 1915 100 Corona Austrian Gold Coins is the double-headed crowned eagle of the Austrian Coat of Arms. This seal descended directly to the empire from the ruling House of Hapsburg and was modified for the empires use to include the national heraldic shield, a sword in one talon, and a globe scepter in the other talon.

History

1915 100 Corona Austrian Gold Coins are restrikes of the historic gold coin designs of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Corona was the common denomination of the empire, though the 100 Corona was not commonly struck. The most popular values were the 20 and 40 Corona gold coins. The Austrian Mint produced these restrikes with a common 1915 date mark which marked the last time Corona gold coins were widely produced.
