Obverse
On the obverse side of 1921-2021 Peace Dollar Rounds is an effigy of Lady Liberty. This left-profile portrait shows Liberty with a towering crown made from rays of sunshine. The design field includes inscriptions of Liberty, 1921-2021, and the national motto of In God We Trust. In keeping with de Franciscis original design, the word Trust is spelled as Trvst.
Reverse
The reverse face of the 1921-2021 Peace Dollar Rounds comes with the image of the American bald eagle at rest. The eagle is sitting perched on a rock with an olive branch in its talons. As a sign of the eagle at rest, the bird is sitting perched with its wings resting at its side. The inscriptions found on this face read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, Peace, and Centennial.
History
The Peace Dollar Silver Coin replaced the Morgan Dollar design on December 28, 1921. During the four days that remained in 1921, the US Mint managed to strike a total of one million coins bearing the 1921 date mark on the Peace Dollar.
