Arguably the most popular American coin design of the 20th century was Augustus Saint-Gaudens vision of Lady Liberty for the Double Eagle. Introduced in 1907, the design was the second and final iteration of Liberty for the Double Eagle Gold Series and was struck through 1933. Right now, you can buy 1927 $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coins online from Provident Metals in Mint State condition.

Obverse
Lady Liberty graces the obverse side of 1927 $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coins. Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the image features a towering depiction of Liberty with flowing hair and a beautiful gown as she strides confidently forward. Her right hand holds up a torch as her left carries an olive branch. The US Capitol Building is visible near her feet with rays of sunshine emerging from behind her figure. The field is encircled by 48 stars in total, reflecting the number of states in the Union in 1927. Inscriptions include Liberty and 1927.
Reverse
An American bald eagle is shown soaring across the design element on the reverse of 1927 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles. This image features the large wings of the eagle swooped out to the sides as it glides through the air. The sun rises below the bird with In God We Trust inscribed just above it. United States of America and Twenty Dollars are inscribed along the top rim.
