The obverse of the Wheat Penny features a portrait of President Abraham Lincoln. “IN GOD WE TRUST” is inscribed, as is the year of issue.
The reverse features two wheat stalks encircling the sides of the coin. Between them lie the inscriptions “ONE CENT” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” while “E PLURIBUS UNUM” sits above.
The Wheat Penny was designed by Victor D. Brenner and issued by the US Mint from 1909 to 1956, and it has since become a classic 21st century American coin. The obverse was commemorative of the 100th anniversary of Lincoln’s birth. These pennies were made mostly of copper, but steel versions were struck during WWII.
Wheat Pennies come with a few various markings, depending on where and when they were made. A mintmark is sometimes found under the date, with an “S” for San Francisco or a “D” for Denver. The absence of a mintmark means that it was made in Philadelphia.
Due to their numismatic appeal, Wheat Pennies are often valued at several times their face value, or higher for coins in excellent condition. This fact–along with their metal content–makes them a good investment, particularly for investors who enjoy collecting “junk” coins.

I bought to build a starter cent collection. I found most of the dates and mint marks. There were a few from the 40s & 50s, but not enough to annoy me. What really pleased me were the five MS63-65 coins in the bag. They are as unworn and shiny as the day they were struck."

Disappointed. I found only 17 mint mark coins. The rest was 1930,34,35,36,37,38,39. I found no coins mint marked for 1931,32 or 33. I thought I would find a little more variety."

Remaining years had 51 or more coins from each year, with 101 from 1939. All the years had D, S or no mint marks(P). Fair amount of D and S mint marks. Coins were all G to VG condition except 1933 and 1925, which was well worn."

i bought two of these and they are a great mix of 30’s, i found a 1935 doubled die, die one that grades a nice au bn and is worth more then what i payed for the two bags and i found other great coins too, highly recommend these for any collector and i will be buying more., great job Provident metals for sure.
