While large denomination paper currency dates back hundreds of years, they were only issued in two series for the modern Federal Reserve note. The last of these arrived in 1934 and featured William McKinley on the front design. The Paper Money Guaranty has also certified these notes to enhance their value and appeal to collectors. Provident Metals now has Very Fine 1934-A $500 Federal Reserve Notes available to purchase online.

  • Ships in a protective currency sleeve from PMG!
  • Vintage high-denomination paper currency!
  • Availability of certified notes is limited!
  • Issued a face value of $500 (USD) by the United States government.
  • Graded Very Fine 30 by the Paper Money Guaranty.

When you order $500 Federal Reserve Notes in this Provident Metals listing online, they will arrive in certified condition. The Paper Money Guaranty has assigned these notes a grade of Very Fine 30. This means that the notes may contain light soiling and other small signs of circulation. Anywhere from 7-10 folds may also be present. Included with each note is a protective currency sleeve with a PMG label listing the official grade.

Obverse

On the obverse of 1934-A Federal Reserve Notes, there is a portrait of William McKinley. From 1897 until 1901, McKinley served as the 25th president of the United States. The highest mountain peak in North America is currently called Denali but was previously named Mount McKinley after the former president. To the right of the portrait, you will find the Treasury seal in green ink. You will also find in green ink the serial number on both sides of the portrait.

Reverse

The reverse of these Federal Reserve Notes contains denomination details. In each corner of the note, the denomination is depicted numerically. It is also shown in this form along the sides and in the center of the note. The reverse also features elegant designs across the edges and in the center. Lastly, you will find text reading United States of America, Five Hundred Dollars.

History

While current Federal Reserve note denominations do not exceed $100, the previous series in this program reached as high as $10,000. These large denominations began in Series 1918 and continued in 1928 when the small-size notes were introduced. The denominations ranged from $500 to $10000 and appeared again in Series 1934 before being discontinued. Today, these large denomination notes are still considered legal tender but are mainly valued as collectors items.
