In December 1921, the United States Mint released the Peace Silver Dollar, the final 90% silver dollar made for use in everyday transactions. The design reflected the nations celebration of peace after World War I and its wish to stay neutral in the future. Today, certified 1935 Peace Dollar Silver Coins are available through Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Coins arrive in protective plastic slabs!
  • Final year of issue in the Peace Silver Dollar!
  • Declared mintage of 1,567,000 coins from the Philadelphia Mint!
  • Contains .7734 Troy oz of actual silver content.
  • Issued a face value of $1 (USD) by the United States.
  • Bears a Grade of Mint State 63 from the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • Lady Liberty on the obverse.
  • Bald eagle on the reverse.

These 1935 Peace Dollar Silver Coins have earned a Mint State 63 grade. Coins with this rating show mild wear to the mint luster, scattered contact marks, some heavier dings, and fine hairlines that are visible without magnification.

Obverse

The obverse side of the 1935 Peace Dollar Coin features Lady Liberty in a left-facing portrait. She wears a crown of rays above her flowing hair, representing the optimism and hope that came after the Great War. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRVST, and 1935.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 1935 Peace Dollar Silver Coin, an American bald eagle is shown resting peacefully on a rocky perch. With its wings at its sides, the eagle faces a distant sun, symbolizing a future filled with promise. The inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, and PEACE.

History

Anthony de Franciscis artistic vision for the Peace Silver Dollar first appeared in December 1921. His Liberty design was different from earlier American coins, offering a young and bright Liberty figure with a crown that draws inspiration from the Statue of Liberty.
