The Peace Silver Dollar was first issued by the United States Mint in 1921, marking the final chapter of silver dollar coin production in American history. This series was introduced the same year as the last Morgan Silver Dollars were minted, and by the time it ended in 1935, silver dollars were no longer produced. Right now, you can purchase 1935 Peace Dollar Silver Coins online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
These 1935 Peace Dollar Silver Coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The Peace Dollar series was struck from 1921 to 1928, with additional coins produced in 1934 and 1935. Individual coins are housed in protective plastic flips, and multiples may be packaged in tubes of 20, if available.
Obverse
The obverse side of the 1935 Peace Dollar Coin features a design by Anthony de Francisci. Lady Liberty is depicted in left-profile relief, wearing a radiant crown that represents the hope for peace in the aftermath of World War I. The field surrounding Liberty also includes the national motto and the year of issue. The inscriptions read LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRVST, and 1935.
Reverse
On the reverse of 1935 Peace Dollar Silver Coins, de Franciscis design showcases an American bald eagle resting on an olive branch, a symbol of peace. The eagles wings are at rest, and it gazes toward rays of sunlight emerging from the horizon, reflecting the countrys optimism and desire for lasting peace. Inscriptions here read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, and PEACE.
History
The creation of the Peace Silver Dollar is closely tied to the Pittman Act of 1918, which authorized the melting of millions of silver dollars to be sold as bullion to Great Britain. The 1935 Peace Dollar was the last to be struck, with a mintage of 1.576 million coins from the Philadelphia Mint and 1.964 million from the San Francisco Mint.
