In 1972, the Mexican Mint issued a commemorative silver coin to recognize 100 years since the passing of President Benito Pablo Juarez. This distinctive piece was struck using a 72% silver and 28% copper blend and featured unique edge lettering. With a limited production, this historic coin remains a collectors item. Provident Metals now offers the 1972 Mexican 25 Pesos Juarez Silver Coin for purchase.
Highlights:
Each 1972 Mexican 25 Pesos Juarez Silver Coin is packaged in a plastic flip for protection. These silver coins are composed of 72% silver and 28% copper, giving them added strength without sacrificing visual appeal or value. The edge lettering on the coin reads INDEPENDENCIA LIBERTAD.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 1972 Mexican 25 Pesos Juarez Coin, youll find Mexicos national emblem. This design displays a golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus in left-profile. The eagle, wings extended, uses its beak and claws to grasp a serpent. A wreath made of oak and laurel frames the bottom of the image. Inscriptions include ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.
Reverse
The reverse of 1972 25 Pesos Juarez Silver Coins shows a portrait of President Benito Juarez. He passed away on July 18, 1872, from a heart attack while working late at the National Palace in Mexico City. His death marked the close of an important chapter in Mexican history, and he was remembered as a symbol of the republics defense. Inscriptions read VEINTICINCO PESOS, LEY, 0.720, 1972, and the Mo mint mark.
History
Benito Jurez was born in 1806 in Oaxaca and was of Zapotec Indigenous descent. Despite early challenges, he became a lawyer and later one of Mexicos most respected leaders. He led the country through turbulent times, including the Reform War and French intervention, earning recognition for his determination and leadership.
