The United States Bicentennial in 1976 was celebrated in many ways. One of the more prominent in everyday life was the Bicentennial coinage. This series of circulation coins brought new, commemorative designs to the reverse of the US dollar, half dollar, and quarter dollar. Issued in 1975 and 1976 with commemorative dates for the Bicentennial, these coins mark an important moment in American history. Provident Metals currently has 1976 Bicentennial Black Ruthenium Colorized Coin Sets available to you for purchase online.

When you purchase one of these 1976 Bicentennial Black Ruthenium Colorized Coin Sets, you receive a set with three coins in total. Each coin has its own protective plastic capsule and a stand that allows for the upright display of the coin. A Certificate of Authenticity is available with the set. The coins have a black ruthenium layer on the entirety of the reverse and obverse fields. The design elements on the reverse have additionally been colorized for brilliant contrast.

Obverse

For the obverse of each coin in the 1976 Bicentennial Black Ruthenium Colorized Coin Set, you will find the traditional presidential effigies in use at the time on each denomination. President Dwight D. Eisenhower is on the obverse of the dollar. President John F. Kennedy is on the half dollar. President George Washington features on the obverse of the quarter dollar.

Reverse

In the reverse design of the coins in the 1976 Bicentennial Black Ruthenium Colorized Coin Set, the US Mint introduced commemorative designs only struck on the coins in 1975 and 1976. The image of the Apollo 11 patch on the dollar was replaced by that of the Liberty Bell in front of the Moon. The Presidential Seal on the half dollar was replaced by an image of Independence Hall. On the quarter, a drummer from the Continental Army replaced the bald eagle. Each one of these designs has beautiful colorizations with hues that bring the images to life.

History

The Bicentennial coinage was struck in 1975 and 1976, but none of the coins feature a 1975 date mark. All of the Bicentennial releases had a dual date of 1776-1976 to denote the Bicentennial of the nations founding. These coins come from the cupro-nickel circulation release.
