In the 1970s, the South African Krugerrand established itself as a dominant piece of the gold bullion industry. With no other gold bullion coins to compete against, it would come to control 90% of the gold market by 1980. The late 1970s and early 1980s saw some of the highest mintage figures in the programs history. Provident Metals now offers the 1977 South African Krugerrand 1 oz Gold Coin to you for purchase online.

When you purchase the 1977 South African Krugerrand 1 oz Gold Coin online at Provident Metals, you will receive a coin that is housed in a protective plastic flip. The mintage of 3,331,000 coins in 1977 was, at the time, the second-highest mintage behind the 1975 date mark. Several subsequent date marks in the late 1970s and early 1980s would surpass this total.

On the obverse of 1977 South African Krugerrand Gold Coins, you will find a portrait of Paul Kruger. The Boer statesman and former President of the South African Republic is captured here in left-profile relief along with inscriptions of SUID-AFRIKA and SOUTH AFRICA.

Reverse

In 1973, the South African Krugerrand had a mintage of 859,000 coins. By 1978, demand had pushed the mintage up to 6,012,000 coins. From 1974 to 1984, mintage figures would surpass at least 2 million coins per year.
