Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II graces the obverse of the Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coins with her presence. Capturing her at the age of 39, these designs were brought to life by the talented artist Arnold Machin in 1965. Notably, these portrayals represent the second-generation rendition of Her Majesty during her extensive reign.
Reverse
The Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coins display the sugar maple leaf, the cherished national symbol of Canada, on their reverse side. This realistic and intricately designed emblem, conceived by Walter Ott for the Maple Leaf Series, was introduced in 1979.
History
November 1982 was a turning point in the Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Series. Not only did the Royal Canadian Mint introduce the first fractional-ounce coins, but it also enhanced the fineness from .999 to .9999 24-karat gold.
