The Royal Canadian Mint launched the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Series in 1979, initially to provide an alternative to the South African Krugerrand for those seeking quality gold bullion. Right now, 1984 Canadian Maple Leaf 1/4 oz Gold Coins are available from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Ships in a protective plastic flip!
  • 6th release in the popular Gold Maple Leaf Series!
  • Contains 1/4 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold.
  • Bears a face value of $10 (CAD), backed by Canadas federal government.
  • Obverse displays a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
  • Reverse features the signature sugar maple leaf design.

Each 1984 Canadian Maple Leaf 1/4 oz Gold Coin arrives in a plastic flip to help keep it in great condition. In 1982, the Royal Canadian Mint expanded the Gold Maple Leaf Series by adding two new fractional-ounce coins: the 1/4 oz and the 1/10 oz, giving collectors more ways to invest in Canadian gold.

Obverse

The obverse side of the 1984 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin features Queen Elizabeth IIs portrait by Arnold Machin. This second-generation design shows the Queen in a right-profile relief at 39 years old, and it was the final portrait of Her Majesty in this series that was not created by a Canadian artist. Inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, 10 DOLLARS, and 1984.

Reverse

On the reverse of 1984 Maple Leaf 1/4 oz Gold Coins, Walter Otts detailed sugar maple leaf design represents Canadas national pride. This iconic leaf was first introduced in 1979 on the Gold Maple Leaf coins, capturing Canadas natural heritage and enduring as a beloved symbol for the series. Inscriptions read CANADA, 9999, FINE GOLD, and 1/4 OZ OR PUR.

History

The Gold Maple Leaf Series has made a strong impact in the precious metals industry, helping Canada build a trusted reputation worldwide. While other mints have introduced their own bullion coins over the years, the Maple Leaf remains a leading choice among collectors and investors.
