Obverse

Walking Liberty can be found on the obverse of all 1986-2021 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins in this 37-coin set. Depicted in left-profile relief, Liberty is shown in a full-length figure as she walks from right to left across the coin toward the sun. With her right hand outstretched, she is draped in the American flag. Inscriptions on this side include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the date mark of each individual coin. The 2021 Type 2 coin has the unique inclusion of Weinmans original AW initials as a signature mark.

Reverse

One of two designs features on the reverse of coins in the 1986-2021 American Eagle Silver 37-Coin Set. The 1986 release through the 2021 Type 1 release all feature the same design: John Mercantis heraldic eagle. For the 2021 Type 2, the new soaring eagle from Emily Damstra is found on the coins. Inscriptions on these coins are the same for all dates and types, however, the arrangement differs from Type 1 to Type 2. These inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, and 1 DOLLAR.

History

2021 marked the first-ever refresh of the American Eagle Silver Coin. The new reverse design comes from Emily Damstra, a talented artist with experience creating designs for both the Royal Canadian Mint and the United States Mint.
