On the obverse face of the 1986 American Eagle Silver Coin is Walking Liberty. Her effigy here is in left-profile relief and she is depicted walking toward the sun on the horizon. The reverse field of 1986 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins includes an image of the heraldic eagle of the United States. The national seal, this design features the American bald eagle with the US national shield on its chest, arrows in one talon, and an olive branch in the other. This image was refined in 1986 for this series by John Mercanti.

American Eagle Silver Coins debuted in 1986 with a total mintage of 5.393 million coins.
