Provident Metals currently has 1986 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coins available to you for purchase online.

Obverse

The obverse side of the 1986 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin comes with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is seen here in right-profile relief at the age of 39. This design was created for the Royal Mint in 1964 and adopted by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1979 when the Canadian Maple Leaf debuted. Inscriptions on this side include ELIZABETH II, 50 DOLLARS, and 1986.

Reverse

On the reverse field of 1986 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coins, you will find an image of the sugar maple leaf. The image shown here was created in 1979 by Walter Ott and features a natural version of the leaf. The inscriptions on this side of the coin include CANADA, 9999, FINE GOLD 1 OZ OR PUR.

History

The 1986 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin was the last date in the series with a mintage over 1 million. While demand remained relatively high throughout the rest of the 1980s, the 1990s brought a significant downturn in demand following the 1990 issue. The Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coin would not surpass 1 million coins in a single year again until 2009.
