History
Giant pandas rely on specific environmental conditions, which have led to their limited and fragmented habitats. These animals require large, unbroken forested areas to sustain their bamboo-based diet. A single panda needs around 10 square kilometers of space and must consume up to 38 kilograms of bamboo daily due to the plants low nutritional value. The combination of habitat loss and dietary needs has contributed to their endangered status.
