In 1982, the Chinese Mint introduced a gold bullion coin program that stands today among the giants of the industry. The release of the Chinese Panda Gold Coin in 1982 brought a third gold bullion coin to the market and one that is still available today with beautiful designs that change each year. Provident Metals now has 1988 Chinese Panda 1 oz Gold Coins available to you for purchase online.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with sealed protective plastic pouches!
  • 7th issue of Chinese Panda 1 oz Gold Coins!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure gold.
  • Issued a face value of 100 Yuan by the government of China.
  • The obverse depicts the exterior of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests.
  • On the reverse is a panda near bamboo.

When you purchase one of these 1988 Chinese Panda 1 oz Gold Coins online at Provident Metals, you will receive a coin that is housed in sealed protective plastic pouches. This coin was issued during an era when the Chinese Panda Gold Series had a lower face value and Troy oz weights in gold.

Obverse

The obverse side of the 1988 Chinese Panda Gold Coin comes with a vision of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. The design showcases the main staircase from the exterior of the building looking up at the main doors. The inscriptions on this side include 1988 and the nation of issue.

Reverse

On the reverse field of 1988 Panda 1 oz Gold Coins, you will find an image of the Giant Panda. This years design shows a seated panda near a bamboo shoot as it reaches forward to grab the bamboo with its front-left paw. Inscriptions on this side of the coin include the face value of 100 Yuan, .999, 1 OZ, AU, and the Chinese inscriptions of these same notations.

History

Chinese Panda Gold Coins were issued as the third modern gold bullion coin behind the South African Krugerrand and Canadian Maple Leaf. The Chinese Panda was the first to use new design elements each year, with only the 2002 date mark repeating a previous design.
