Obverse

The obverse side of 1989 American Eagle Gold Coins comes with a depiction of Lady Liberty. Created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this image shows the full-length figure of Liberty in front-facing relief with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. Inscriptions read LIBERTY and MCMLXXXIX, the latter being the date mark in Roman numerals.

Reverse

On the reverse face of the 1989 Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin, you will find a family of bald eagles. This design was created in 1986 by Miley Busiek with a male eagle in flight above a nest with a female eagle and hatchlings. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD, and 25 DOLLARS.
